This case (or actually "these cases") is based on 4
Aopen HQ-95A desktop housings of which I only used the baseframe.
Around these frames I have build 4 completely new housings which
are inspired by the, well known in the Audio-Visual and server
business, measurements of 19" rackmount equipment.
Because my pc collection started to get out of hand (when I started
this project I had 3, but nr. 3was on it's way) and I lacked the
space for them on my room I started brainstorming for a solution
in which at least 3 (eventually it became 4) PC's could be housed
in one piece of furniture.
Because at that moment I was still working as an Audio-Visual
technician I very quickly came to the idea to build sort of an
19" equipment rack with 4 19" case and a few connection
panels.
In the begining my intention was to give the whole a rather technical
look, but when the project started shaping up I also got my first
own home.
After that I decided to build the whole more or less in the same
stile as my furniture in the living room, in which I succeeded
very well if you ask me.
Despite the project not being finished yet, I still managed
to win the first plac3in tBCL
(the Benelux Casemod League) 2006.
A detailed worklog of the project can be found on the left under
"XIXIV". |
