Painstaking work, 2nd Bartop and V-Carving

by floriske, September 2, 2013

The past week I’ve been working on 30 key chains for a gaming clan. Turned out to be painstaking work because I had to cool manually during the engraving since my machine does not have a cooling system. Next to that I used extruded plexiglas which tends to melt very fast which results in rough edges which I had to sand smooth afterwards.

This is something I won’t be doing anymore for now, might add a cooling system in the future.

I also finished the second bartop I had to route. Finished it a while back but didn’t take pictures of it yet.

Next to that I’ve been experimenting with V-carving.

The result isn’t 100% to my likings because the router bit isn’t sharp enough.

In the meantime I also figured out what my spoilboard is going to look like. The first step was to take off the temporary spoilboard and remove the black foamed PVC on the T-slot profiles.

The base of the new spoilboard will be waterproof plyboard with a 50mm raster of press in nuts with a waterproof MDF spoilboard on top.

This is something I will be doing next before starting on some projects I have planned.

Edit:

Just started removing the foamed PVC:

This was pretty frustrating work so I’m glad it’s done 😉
